From £0 to £1.7m. No brand, no clients, no excuses.
How we took Elevate Accountancy from a cold start to £1.7m in sales in the first three years, in an industry owned by corporate giants.
Scope of project
- Brand strategy and positioning
- Logo design
- Brand identity and colour system
- Stationery and print
- Website design
- Website build
- SEO strategy built in from launch
The challenge
Liam Wilson was walking away from the corporate world to set up his own accountancy business. No existing clients. No name. No track record under his own banner. A genuine cold start.
And he was stepping into one of the most saturated markets going. Accountancy is wall to wall giant corporate brands with big budgets, big offices and decades of trust banked. Prospects don’t pick the cleverest accountant. They pick the one who looks like they’ve got it handled.
So the brief was blunt: Elevate had to look credible and win clients from day one. Not in year three. Day one.
The process
Discovery
We started with Liam, not with a logo. Who he wanted to work with, what he was brilliant at, and what kind of firm he wanted to build. You can't position a business you don't understand.
Competitive landscape audit
Then we assessed the whole competitive landscape. Who the big players were, how they presented themselves, what they said and, more importantly, what they all looked like. When everyone in a market looks the same, that's not a threat. That's an opening.
Positioning strategy
Next we put a strategy in place to position Liam as the go-to expert, even as a brand new startup. Not "the new firm". The expert who happens to be independent. Every design and copy decision afterwards had to serve that one idea.
Identity design
With the strategy locked, we designed the identity: logo, colour system and stationery, built to sit confidently next to firms many times Elevate's size. See more of our branding work across North Wales. Want the same for your firm? See how we work as a Wrexham branding agency.
Website design and build
The website was designed and built around the services clients actually search for, with a proper service structure and a blog, so every offer has a page that can rank and convert, built on solid WordPress development. More on our web design in North Wales.
SEO and launch
SEO wasn't bolted on afterwards. It was built into the site from launch, so Elevate could start showing up in local searches from the off rather than waiting years for word of mouth.
The thinking behind the final direction
Purple, because everyone else is navy and grey.
Purple sits between blue's calm and red's energy, so it reads as wisdom and creativity together. Corporate accountancy is drowned in navy and grey. Deep purple and violet, with rich gradients, let a challenger feel premium and trustworthy while standing well apart from the giants. Fintech challengers have used purple the same way, for exactly that reason.
White on deep purple.
The bold, rounded, lowercase elevate wordmark sits in white on deep purple, with ACCOUNTANCY in spaced capitals underneath. White on purple says clarity and confidence. Friendly enough to approach, sharp enough to trust with your numbers.
A teal tick that only goes one way: up.
The "v" in elevate is drawn as a rising teal tick. Teal mixes blue's trust with green's associations of growth and money. And the shape says two things at once: accuracy, because it's ticked off and done right, and growth, because it's rising. Two things every client wants from their accountant, in a single letter.
A dot pattern that works anywhere.
A pattern of teal, purple and white dots gives the brand a flexible device that stretches across business cards, letterheads, social graphics and the website without ever looking repetitive.
Illustrations that make numbers human.
Bright 3D style illustrations of tax forms, calculators and real people take the fear out of accountancy. Expert, but approachable. Exactly the positioning Liam needed as the new name in town.
A line with a job to do.
"Value Added to any business." Short, confident and a wink to the trade. It tells prospects what they get before they've read a word of the website.
One system, every touchpoint.
The same purple, tick and dots run through the dark purple website, the stationery and the social content, so Elevate looked like an established firm from day one, not a startup finding its feet. The website was structured around Elevate's core service areas, Business, Franchise and Taxation, so every offer has a clear home.
The outcome
£1.7m in sales in the first three years, from a cold start.
“Salisbury Media transformed our ideas into a powerful brand and high performing website that truly represents Elevate Accountancy. They went beyond design, delivering SEO that keeps us ranking locally and generating leads every day. Their work has been instrumental in our growth to £1.7m in sales in our first three years.”
